Are SailorBags waterproof?
It wouldn't be much of a SailorBag if it was afraid of water, right?
Our fabrics -- both the exterior sailcloth and interior linings -- are treated with water-repellent and/or waterproof coatings,
so rain, splashes and spray just bead up and run off.  But no bag with sewn seams, exterior zippers and outer pockets is completely waterproof,
so use good care... don't drop it in the lake, leave it sitting in a puddle, or snorkel with it. -------------------------------------- Doesn't the white fabric get very dirty?
As with most textile products, the color of your SailorBag may change and/or fade over time. We have bags that we’ve used for years
without washing, and they still look great -- to us, they just look well-loved and full of character.
But if your SailorBag gets surface dirt or stains on it, it is washable -- see our cleaning FAQs (below) for more info. -------------------------------------- Can I wash my SailorBag? Absolutely – and it won’t shrink or deform like canvas bags do! All styles except the insulated and padded bags can be machine washed, gentle cycle, in cold water. Use any laundry detergent. Do not use chlorine bleach, as it will actually turn the fabric yellow. Push the bag out to its original shape and hang to air dry. If your bag is very dirty, you can pre-soak it in 1/2 cup of automatic dishwasher detergent mixed with about a gallon of water, and add a little vinegar to the final rinse. -------------------------------------- How do I clean my insulated or padded SailorBags? If you have an insulated bag (cooler, lunch bag, wine tote), or a padded bag (laptop, iPad bag), Don't put it in the washing machine, immerse in water, or use bleach. Just wipe the outside with a damp cloth or sponge with a bit of soap. The lining in most of our insulated bags pulls completely inside out so you can wipe it clean easily and thoroughly. Allow to air dry and you're good to go!
